# Check in guests

> Scan ticket QR codes at the door using the web scanner or Taack mobile app.

On event day, use Taack to check in patrons as they arrive. Each confirmed ticket has a unique QR code — scanning it marks the patron as checked in and tracks attendance in real time.

<Info>
  Patrons on a [payment plan](/organizers/payment-plans) only receive tickets and QR codes after their final payment. Until the plan is **Completed**, their spot is reserved but they can't be checked in.
</Info>

## Start scanning

Open your event and go to the **Overview** tab. Click **Scan tickets** to open the **Choose Scanning Method** dialog, then pick the method that suits your setup.

  </Step>

## Tips for smooth check-in

<Tip>
  Test the scanner with a ticket from your own account before doors open. Confirm the camera works and that test scans appear in your event data.
</Tip>

<Tip>
  For large events, assign multiple staff with the mobile app rather than sharing one web browser session. Several phones can scan the same event at once using the same code.
</Tip>

<Tip>
  If a patron's phone is dead, use the guest list search in the mobile app to find their name and check them in manually.
</Tip>
